Virtual worlds
Have looked at Second Life & this is not my "thing". I can see that it could have possibilities for educational purposes, but I would not enjoy sitting at the computer and pretending to be a virtual person in a virtual world.

Activity # 11

I have looked at Library thing & added books to my collection. It's great for looking for books to read, as lots of books have been reviewed. I don't think I would worry about adding all the books I've read into my 'Collection' as this would take time.
A very handy site to have though, & perhaps for checking catalogue records as well.

Activity # 8

iGoogle is the perfect place to waste time, if that's what you want to do. It's also great to check out the weather, here or somewhere else. Find a recipe for dinner or just play games. Having all these "gadgets" on the home page make it quick and easy to do searches.

Activity #4

Web 2.0 allows for global sharing of information.  Publishing, sharing, & editing of documents. Users can write reviews, share their opinions, and interact with other users.

Have previewed a Budget spreadsheet in google docs and looks easy enough for even me to use if I wanted to do a budget.

Activity # 6

Later this year we will be taking a trip to Lake Eyre, so I looked at Google Maps to see exactly where it is & how we would be getting there. It was easy to use.

Checked out Google books & discovered there are plenty of titles to browse. Have added a link for a Kate Morton book. Also notice that books have a catalogue record...very handy.

Activity #2

First time at doing anything like this...but feel I should be updating my skills. I am presently working in a secondary school for girls. I enjoy my work but need to know more about all this techno "stuff"
